Now, as the pandemic is weakening, new measures have been adopted by the Thai government to allow tourists to return.

2.Is it safe to travel to Koh Samui?

Koh Samui, like all of Thailand, is considered quite safe for travellers and expats alike. As violent crimes are rare against foreigners, it is advised to take normal precautions just as you would in your home country. Statistically, Koh Samui and Thailand have less overall crime rates than that of most Western countries. Petty crimes can and do happen, although it is not prevalent. Taking a stroll after dark is always not recommended, regardless of what country in which you reside.

3.Is it worth going to Koh Samui?

Personally, I would recommend having at least 5 days on Koh Samui. This will give you time to explore the different areas of the island and get a day trip in too. Koh Samui is a large island and anything less than 5 days would feel rushed. Lamai Viewpoint and cafe is one of the best spots on Koh Samui for great views!

4.How many days should I spend in Koh Samui?

Without a doubt, 3 perfect days in Koh Samui should include a day trip to this incredible place of natural beauty. Ang Thong National Marine Park is a string of tiny islands where you can find limestone cliffs, rocky caves, lakes and waterfalls, white-sand beaches, coral reefs, hiking trails, and more.

5.How do you spend a day in Koh Samui?

Public taxis are available (make sure they use the meter), but the roads are good and renting a motorbike is a fun option.

Chaweng Noi Beach.

Lamai Beach.

Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park.

Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai)

Fisherman’s Village.

Na Muang Waterfall.

Bang Po Beach.

Chaweng Boxing Stadium.

6.Is Koh Samui more beautiful than Phuket?

And you’re tossing back and forth between Phuket or Koh Samui. Which of these islands is actually the best? Choosing one over the other is like choosing between an apple and an orange: both are equally beautiful and the only difference between the two is your own preference.

7.Which month is best for Samui?

The dry season, which runs from December to August, is the best time to visit Koh Samui in terms of weather. During this time, the weather is sunny and hot, with temperatures averaging around 30 degrees Celsius. The wet season, which runs from September to November, is characterized by heavy rainfall and high humidity.

8.What is Koh Samui best known for?

Koh Samui is blessed with white sandy beaches making it the perfect beach vacation in Thailand. Chaweng Beach is Koh Samui’s most popular beach and with good reason. It is one very large stretch of white sand with shady palm trees. In fact, it is so large it is broken into four parts, North, Central, South, and Little.

9.Is it safe to walk around Koh Samui?

There are not any particularly dangerous areas in Koh Samui. The only place you may want to avoid staying close to is the red-light districts in Lamai and Chaweng. These areas are loud, and the atmosphere becomes seedy late at night. That doesn’t mean you should exclude Chaweng and Lamai, though.

10.Is Koh Samui a party island?

The nightlife in Koh Samui is known as being some of the best in Thailand, if not the world. Koh Samui’s full moon parties attract visitors from across the globe, and its party capital Chaweng is jam-packed with beer bars, discos, nightclubs and parties.

11.What is the wettest month in Koh Samui?

November, Koh Samui’s wettest month, sees an average of 489.66 mm/10 inches of rainfall. ‍Tip: If you burn easily, avoid the sun, or don’t like to tan, you might love visiting Koh Samui in November.

12.Where is the least touristy part of Koh Samui?

Samrong Beach and Tonson Bay are a pair of beautiful quiet beaches is Koh Samui’s northern shores. The twin beaches are located close to bustling Chaweng, but still remain under the radar of most visitors to Koh Samui.

13.Is it safe to drink water in Koh Samui?

Much of the tap water on the island is not safe to drink. It doesn’t taste great, either, so we don’t recommend drinking water straight from the tap in Koh Samui or even using it to clean your teeth. Safe, bottled mineral water is available all over the island so it’s easy to stock up while you’re there on vacation.

14.Is Koh Samui safe for solo females?

Ko Samui is generally safe for solo female travellers. The island is known for its friendly locals and laid-back atmosphere, and the crime rate is low.

15.Does Koh Samui have a red light district?

Red light district Koh Samui – all about it – SamuiOnline

It has two big red light district on Koh Samui. One is in Lamai and the other in Chaweng.

Visiting Koh Samui

Visiting Koh Samui is on many travellers’ bucket lists. The tropical and exotic island is known as the gem of the Gulf of Thailand. Situated about 35 km northeast of the mainland’s provincial city of Surat Thani, it is the most significant island in the Chumphon Archipelago.

Measuring 25 km (16 miles) at its widest point, the island features some of the most iconic beaches in the world.

Here, we have a list of the best beaches on Koh Samui and many more suggestions for your holidays!

Chaweng Beach
This expansive beach is teeming with white, powdery sands and is known as the most touristy beach on the island. However, despite the high-season crowds, the beach is known for its compatibility with all kinds of water sports.

Moreover, if you enjoy partying or socialising, Chaweng Beach is the place to be.

Lamai Beach
The island’s second most popular beach is that of Lamai. Although it is not as busy as Chaweng Beach, the area of Lamai caters to tourists and offers excellent beachside restaurants, clubs, and water sports.

Crystal Beach
Known as Crystal Beach or Crystal Bay, this beach is known as the most beautiful as its large boulders encircle the white-sanded beach. Located between Chaweng and Lamai, the beach is a favourite place to go for many tourists and expats alike.

The beach’s shallow waters offer tropical fish and other sea life that can be found by snorkelling around.

Bophut Beach
This strip of sand is located near the famous Fisherman’s Village, hence, there are many beachside accommodations and activities at Bophut Beach.

Although the beach isn’t white-sanded, its prime location offers many activities and fun for all.

Lipa Noi
This quiet beach is located at the southwestern end of the island. And, if you are looking for the best sunset on the island, you have found the right place.

Known as the gem of the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui is located in the southern part of Thailand about 80 kilometers from the mainland. From the mainland province of Surat Thani, Koh Samui is 1.5 hours away by commercial ferry.

The journey is, indeed, quite cheap to get to the most famous islands of the Gulf of Thailand: Koh Samui, the largest and most developed, Koh Phangan, a wellness and Bohemian-inspired island, and Koh Tao, the world-famous diving island.

Koh Samui is renowned for its idyllic beaches, world-class resorts and cerulean waters. But, aside from its paradisical beauty, the island promotes a chilled-out way of life. And, if you have had enough of the tropical sun and calming oceans, its nightlife offers trendy pubs, bars, and eateries to change up your routine.

As most of the expats are from all over the world, the choice of restaurants is abundant. Moreover, as with international cuisines comes a tight-knit expat crowd that becomes family.

From luxurious villas to budget bungalows on the beach, Koh Samui has every type of accommodation for long-term residents. It is quite easy to find a one or two-bedroom home for around 500 USD a month.

For families, the island offers many local or Thai government schools, bilingual and international schools. As international school tuition is cheaper than that of Bangkok and Phuket, the island offers a great home for families.

Cuisines in Thailand are renowned for being incredibly delicious and cheap, making this Southeast Asian country a gem for foodies. And, if you live here, you will most likely enjoy the wide variety of food available for a fraction of the price you would pay in your home country. Typical Thai dishes can range from 40 baht and up (or as little as $1.5 USD), while Western dishes start at around $5 USD and up.

Healthcare in Koh Samui is exceptional, affordable, and abundant. Almost every street features a pharmacy, or 7/11 where routine medicines can be purchased without a prescription. Furthermore, clinics and international hospitals are readily available to offer you services for your medical and health needs.

Dentists, paediatricians, orthopaedics, gynaecologists, and many other specialist medical professionals are available on the rock. There are also many health insurance agencies on the island from Western companies that can set you up with a great plan.

Shopping is a pleasure on Koh Samui as there are many beachside shops selling beachwear and tropical dresses and shorts. Moreover, the island has Thailand’s largest shopping mall franchise, known as Central Festival Samui for all of your extended shopping needs.

Western supermarkets include Lotus’s, Big C, Tops, and many other speciality stores to help satisfy your cravings and culinary desires.

With the stunning backdrop of tropical jungles and crystal-blue waters at your fingertips, joining the expat community on Koh Samui will surely be a magical experience!
